Sputnik Photos has just launched a crowdfunding campaign

About the project:

Nearly twenty-five years after the fall of the USRR, five Sputnik Photos photographers are setting out on a journey to five former Soviet Republics: Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan. Help them reach Central Asia to continue working on their project through 2015 and raise questions about remnants of the old empire. “What are the people living there like? What and who do they fear? What do they dream of? Who are they?”
